Working alone, from home most of the time, for a raging extrovert (albeit with Long Covid) can be very lonely and sometimes quite difficult for me. But the increased chatter and many photos of such positive examples of churches showing their inclusivity to their communities has done my soul a world of good!
Increased traffic does of course also increase the attention we get from more challenging/unsupportive/antagonistic folks too, and that can be very hard. But I've been really encouraged by the willingness so many of you have shown to speak up, defend and protect our community. We will always have opposition. Some of which may never be prepared to consider our perspective as valid. However, far more are open to learning. When we are able to offer the time and gift of our stories, our experiences and make space for each other to be who we are, the blessings multiply. Grace is propagated. Highly contagious hope leaks out.
It's shocked me to realise I've now been in post for almost two years! Thank you for all that you each give to making Inclusive Church what it is, and what it is becoming. I'm reet proud of what we're doing and the progress I am seeing. And, despite the dire narratives of doom, gloom, blame and shame the media is full of, I am glimpsing more of God's positive plan and hope for us every day. Long may this continue!
I look forward to sharing more and hearing from many of you directly, at our AGM on July 20th. |
