Hello everyone, and welcome to your monthly newsletter.

We have more details now about the AGM and Annual Lecture in early July. Read below and sign up asap for online or on site attendance via the Eventbrite link given.

Also new this month, you can watch the videos from last year's Disability Conference, which are now on the website/ YouTube channel. I hope you enjoy them, whether you were there or you're listening for the first time. See more below.

IC AGM and Annual Lecture - July 4th 7pm

The Inclusive Church AGM and Annual Lecture is fast approaching. We have another excellent speaker this year - Prof. Anthony Reddie, Director of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford and an Extraordinary Professor of Theological Ethics at the University of South Africa.

Anthony is one of the world's foremost Black theologians and author of multiple acclaimed books such as the SCM Core Text on Black Theology, Theologising Brexit and Is God Colour-Blind? He is an expert on James Cone and has developed a pioneering course on Cone at Oxford, which will be taught for the first time this year.

Anthony's challenging talk - 'Unmasking the two Deadly Ds: Dismantling Whiteness and Deconstructing Mission Christianity' - will be well worth hearing, whether you opt to come to Manchester Cathedral or join us online via Zoom. You can register for online or on site attendance via Eventbrite.

On site at Manchester Cathedral, there will be Evensong before the AGM at 5.30pm in the Quire, which all are welcome to attend. If you don't attend Evensong, the doors will open for the AGM at 6.30pm. After the lecture at 8pm, there will be refreshments in the Nave, and a chance to chat/ catch up with people you may not have seen in a long while. On Zoom, conversation will be in small break-out rooms.

(Still) Calling From the Edge:
videos now online 

The 2021 Conference on Disability and Church (in partnership with St Martin-in-the-Fields and HeartEdge) was called '(Still) Calling from the Edge' and celebrated 10 years of the conference while also lamenting the fact that disabled people are still marginalised in many ways in church spaces.

The videos from last year's conference are now available to watch on our website and YouTube channel, in case you want to re-visit the experience or watch them for the first time. Enjoy!

The annual training day for Regional Ambassadors is now being organised for a date in September. If you would like to find your regional ambassador or become a regional ambassador yourself, find out more on our website.

Partner news

An inclusive church in Winchester diocese is looking for a Priest-in-charge. The deadline for applications is the 9th June. Apply via the diocesan website.

WAVE are looking for a church engagement lead. The deadline is the 17th June and applications can made via the recruitment page of their website.

Events

Every Wednesday, between 6 and 6.30pm, OneBodyOneFaith are hosting an online space for prayer called 'Rhythm'. Find out more on the website. Rhythm is fast becoming more than a space for prayer. Drawing on monastic patterns, Rhythm includes resources to download and a rule of life for people to 'embrace'.

On the 24th May at 7pm, there will be a webinar in the Shut In Shut Out Shut Up series - this time on Disability & Intersectionality. This is the first in an occasional series of webinars, part of a new HeartEdge & Church Times partnership. Speakers are Lamar Hardwick, Naomi Lawson Jacobs, Rachel Mann and Fiona MacMillan. On the 4th July at 7pm, Inclusive Church will hold our AGM and Annual Lecture with keynote speaker Professor Anthony Reddie at Manchester Cathedral (and on Zoom). To register to attend online or on site, go to the Eventbrite page.

Free to Believe national conference is happening from the 14th - 16th July at High Leigh conference centre, Herts, with speakers including Alex Clare-Young and Fiona Bennett (moderator elect of URC GA). Read more here.

Modern Church conference is being held from the 18th - 20th July at High Leigh conference centre. Speakers include Jarel Robinson-Brown,Tina Beardsley, Susannah Cornwall and Adrian Thatcher. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to the Modern Church website.

'HeartEdge is gathering in Manchester - 27th- 28th September. Join John Bell, Rachel Mann, Anderson Jeremiah, Andrew Graystone, Grace Thomas, Molly Boot, Kathy Versfeld, Anthony Reddie, Azariah France-Williams and Sam Wells to unpack 'humbler church, Bigger God'. Our practical, two-day intensive is packed with ideas, theology and space to meet and share - time to re-connect. This year lots of workshops on enterprise, commerce, new cultural projects, plus resources for developing congregations and sustaining community responses. Plus we're excited to host the UK Theology Slam. More details and book in here.'
