June 2025

The Inclusive Church Newsletter is a digital publication produced every month. It aims to provide supporters and members with the latest news and information from the life of Inclusive Church and our partner organisations.

Called to more

This time of year is bursting with celebration; ordinations, Pride, Pentecost. Each, in their own way, marks transformation: moving from learning into being, from preparation into presence, from fear into courage.

A year ago, I stepped away from parish ministry and into something new and unexpected, a free-range, hybrid phase of priesthood. Now, alongside preaching and praying, I make more art. I write. I focus deeply on inclusive theology and advocacy across a broad spectrum of church life. I work for Inclusive Church.

It was scary. But it’s also brought peace, healing, and clarity. A year on, I’m more convinced than ever that we are not called to fit someone else’s mould, we are called to grow into our own unique God-given awesomeness.

How fitting that ordination season, Pride month, and Pentecost coincide. All three celebrate the Spirit’s movement, wild and uncontainable, calling us into courage, community, and co-creation with God. At Pentecost, the Spirit pours out on all people. No one is left behind. At Pride, we affirm that love comes in many expressions and that LGBTQIA+ people are beloved and sacred, not broken, not unworthy. And in ordination, the Church names a calling that has already taken root: to hold space, to proclaim hope, to embody love.

These are not events we pass through once. They are markers we return to, again and again, to renew our commitment to a better, braver, more inclusive world.

So this month, I invite you to pray with me for:

  • Those about to be ordained, stepping into the next chapter of their calling

  • Those attending their first Pride, with all the courage that takes

  • Those still longing to speak their truth safely

  • All who are tired from holding space, striving for justice, and embodying compassion — may you be refreshed anew.

Be extraordinary, friends. You already are.

We celebrate new churches joining Inclusive Church: Welcome! if you are nearby, why not say hello?
An Almighty Hello!

At our May board meeting it was a delight to present the board with a list of twenty seven churches that have applied to join us, and were now awaiting board approval.

The board were happy to give this so we now welcome them officially into the Inclusive Church Network.

I've listed them all below, with links to their websites so you can find out more about them. There's some really great stuff going on, and I've tried to highlight some specific examples.

There is a huge variety of worship expressions, resources and contexts amongst these churches, demonstrating that diversity really is at the core of who we are, and a shared commitment to being inclusive. We've Baptist, Methodists, LEPs and CofE churches in this set...

Tea, cake + the prime minister

When a mysterious call came through to St Andrew’s, Bedford, asking if they’d host a VIP just days before Easter, Revd Canon Lucy Davis didn’t expect it to be the Prime Minister.

But what followed was a joyful, hope-filled encounter that affirmed the heart of inclusive community. From sunflower seeds to security checks, read how a local church ended up sharing the Easter message of welcome and resurrection on a national stage — and why it mattered.
